Gimme Shelter

On a chilly day last May, I encountered this sign in the Exit. For the previous several months, the stop at Cedar and 6th had been closed due to the construction of a new bus shelter.no shelter may 15The irony did not escape me. Below is picture of the newly built “Shelter”…

Perhaps it doesn’t matter that this structure provides little protection from the elements to those waiting for a bus. The important thing is, the bus stop is now more visually esthetic to those driving by in their cozy cars than was the previous shelter (similar to the stop at 6th and Wabasha below, but included a bench).
